About Us

About Our Founders

Originally from Paducah, Texas, founders of L & L Semi-Independent Living, Johnnie, and Latoya, grew up as best friends in the small town of Childress, Texas. Johnnie and Latoya have always been inseparable, and throughout life, they have shared the passion of helping others. As teenagers in high school working at the local Pizza Hut, Johnnie and Latoya dreamed about changing the world for a better place, one person at a time. After high school, Johnnie and Latoya continued to nurture their lifelong dream by working in social services and giving back to the community through volunteering. Combined, Johnnie and Latoya have over a decade of experience in helping others. Johnnie contributes to her community with her background in social services by bringing and keeping families together. Latoya is an active volunteer at transitional homes throughout the city of Dallas, Texas. Every day, Johnnie and Latoya wake up and make a difference in this world.

L & L Semi-Independent living is an extension of the dream that Johnnie and Latoya had many years ago in their small Texas town. At L &L Semi-Independent living, Johnnie and Latoya hope to provide young adults who have aged out foster care a sense of belonging, and more importantly, a sense of family. The L&L Semi-Independent motto is, “here you will always have a place to call home.”
